The J.E. and Lillian Byrne Tipton Endowment in Catholic Studies and the Department of Religious Studies present the Tipton Lecture, given by Professor Emmanuel Falque, entitled “Only a God Can Save Us.” Introducing listeners to a philosophical project that engages both contemporary phenomenology and Catholic theological tradition and that addresses questions of anxiety, suffering, and death; birth and resurrection; and body and Eucharist; Professor Falque’s Tipton Lecture will focus on the question of salvation and argue that salvation is not escape to “another world” but instead a way of inhabiting this world in our human finitude.
