Day 1, Saturday, June 21: Participants Arrive in Santa Barbara

6:00 pm: Dinner to be delivered to Pendola, second floor lounge (*If you arrive after 8 pm, you will have a salad waiting for you in the refrigerator of the community lounge on the 2nd floor. There will be some salads with Chicken (non-halal) and some with salmon for our Halal friends!)

Day 2, Sunday, June 22: Relax

PART I. GENERAL ORIENTATION

Day 3, Monday, June 23: Welcome & Orientation to UCSB/Santa Barbara

9:00 am: Meet in front of Pendola after breakfast

PART VII. STUDY TOUR (*Tentative Schedule*)

Day 33, Wednesday, July 23: Depart for Salt Lake City

10:00-11:00 am: Check out of Pendola & Load vans
11:10 am: Depart for Santa Barbara Airport
12:55 pm: Flight departs from Santa Barbara
3:50 pm: Arrive in SLCand take shuttle to Peery Hotel

5:30 pm: Hotel holds an appetizer social/reception if you want to grab                                                   a quick snack before dinner.

5:45 pm:  Meet outside hotel to walk to JB Restaurant (We have made reservations so we can get a quick bite to eat before meeting. Each participant pays for own dinner out of per diem)

7:15 pm: Walk to Museum of Church History and Art for dessert and presentation by Jan Shipps and Steve Olsen. (Please see distributed article). You may want to return to view museum exhibits during your free time.

2:30 pm: Meet outside hotel. Being Non-Mormon in Mormon Land, walk to several Non-Mormon churches in SLC (Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic, and maybe Lutheran).

Day 35, Friday, July 25: Salt Lake City

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES for afternoon of July 25th.
Choice of viewing one of three movies:  Shown at 1:30 or 3:00. Approximately one hour in length.  No tickets required.
1.  "Joseph Smith, the Prophet of the Restoration" at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
2.  "The Testaments" regarding corresponding events from the Bible and the Book of Mormon.  Shown at the North Visitors Center, Temple Square.
3.  "Legacy", regarding the history and events of the Mormon Pioneers and their coming to the Salt Lake Valley.

1:00 pm: Visit to Carter Museum
2:00-3:15 pm: Meeting with Carter Center Peace-Program staff
3:15 pm: Return to hotel via taxi

Day 41, Thursday, July 31: Depart for Washington, D.C.

6:30-7:20 am: Check out of hotel and load taxis
7:20 am: taxis depart from hotel
9:45 am: Flight departs from Atlanta
11:50 am: Flight arrives in DC take shuttles to Jurys Washington hotel

3:00 pm: Meet in hotel lobby for visit to the National Cathedral (bring 2 x $1.35 exact change for bus)

[Optional: After National Cathedral, Kendall will take subway down to the US Capitol Bldg. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, and Congress is in session they let you sit and watch in the galley. Or just come along for the architecture or to learn how to ride the subway!]

Day 42, Friday, August 1: Washington, D.C.

Morning: Meet in hotel lobby for a meeting with founder of the Religion and Policy Center, Joseph K. Grieboski
Afternoon: [Mandatory] Debriefing, U.S. State Department at Holiday Inn @ 550 C Street SW. Meet with State Department staff-  evaluation of program, and important information about alumni benefits (networking, grants, etc).

Day 43, Saturday, August 2: Washington, D.C.

10:00 am: Meet in hotel lobby for visit to the Holocaust Museum
[After the museum, you may want to walk along the Mall and visit the Smithsonian, the Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington monument, etc. The National Gallery of Art has a nice café in the basement for lunch. See DC map for details.]

2:00 pm: Meet outside the museum for visit to the Museum of the American Indian

Day 44, Sunday, August 3: Washington, D.C.

10:00 am: (Optional) Meet in hotel lobby to visit Arlington Cemetery
Afternoon: Free Time

7:30 pm: Farewell Farewell Banquet at Kramer's Bookstore on Dupont Circle. Meet in hotel lobby. Chance to say goodbye and Institute certificates will be presented.

Day 45, Monday, Aug. 4: PARTICIPANTS DEPART FOR HOME

**Note: Most of you will depart from Dulles Airport, which is about an hour from your hotel via shuttle. Please check with your airline prior to departure to confirm flight times and shuttle arrangements. Fare for shuttle to Dulles was provided in your second check.
