How religious groups and themes are represented in film calls for analysis much the same as with journalism. Because so much of the film industry is located in southern California, its presence is important to how people in the region understand religion. Alternatively, is the California setting itself an influence on film produced in Hollywood? Film plus discussion.

Religious themes in film are at once obvious and subtle, explicit as well as implicit. The lecture will examine these intricacies and offer a framework for analyzing religion and film. Lecture and discussion.
