Associate Director (Academic Coordinator II) Position in Capps Center

The Walter H. Capps Center for the Study of Ethics, Religion and Public Life at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for the Associate Director position, a full-time Academic Coordinator II. This is a 12 month fiscal year appointment (non-tenure track). The initial appointment will be for one year, with the expectation of renewal based on excellent performance and administrative approval. The Associate Director (AD) assists the Capps Center Director in developing and implementing programming consistent with the mission of the Center, including a public lecture series, seminars, workshops, conferences, and other programming opportunities. The Center runs approximately 12 public events per year. In addition, the Center co-sponsors and cooperates in the production of campus lectures, film screenings and panel discussions, as well as community-based cultural events and lectures that actively engage the ‘out of college’ audience with the humanities. Under the direction of the Center Director and the Center’s advisory committee, the AD helps to plan a variety of events involving faculty, students, and visiting speakers on campus and in the community. The AD also manages public relations and outreach to the community and develops strong working relationships with relevant departments, campus units and community organizations to reach the overall goals of the Capps Center. Under the direction of the Center Director, the AD also assists relevant faculty in developing public programming during the academic year for the Herman P. and Sophia Taubman Foundation Endowed Symposia in Jewish Studies (approximately 8 to 10 hours per week during the academic year).
